Until you've counted little fingers.
Counted little toes.
Held a little hand.
Kissed a little nose.
Soothed a little tummy.
Read to little ears.
Powdered a little booty.
Wiped away little tears.
You haven't known love...

Love is a baby... love is a baby wrapped in soft, warm blankets, showered with kisses and cuddles and the occasional "Oohs" and "Ahhs" from adoring aunts and grandmothers. Alex is the ultimate cutie-patootie who's already big for a three-week old, probably because he sleeps and drinks his milk like a true pro.
Excited to blog about the styled and lifestyle session that happened with this little guy and his beautiful mom this week!
“Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend.
Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.”
― Groucho Marx
The Essential Groucho: Writings For By And About Groucho Marx
This quote sums up everything that I think about dogs, books and humor. Been back living at the 'rent's home while making our first ever house livable so I've been spending some quality time with my three furry best friends. I cannot believe I lived 6 whole months not waking up to wet, sloppy kisses and the soft thud thud of furry feet on the bed.
There's nothing better than living with a dog.
Living with three dogs?
Heaven.
“The greatest step towards a life of simplicity is to learn to let go.”
― Steve Maraboli,
Life, the Truth, and Being Free
I admire people who can live with just the basics, people who are not tied to anything and can let go of stuff at a moment's notice. Simplicity is wonderful and having less things prevents you from worrying about anything but the basics--like air, food, the right amount of clothes, shelter. In today's world it is so easy to become preoccupied with the next best thing and how to get it, that we overlook the things that we already have. I had to part ways with something that was so precious to me this week, and it was tough. But giving it up also gave me that sense of relief, of having one less thing to worry about, one less thing to occupy my mind. I read this poem from The Joy of Less by Francine Jay:
The small butterfly moves
as though unburdened by
the world of desire.
(The Spring of My Life by Kobayashi Issa)
and it is so true. A simple life is life unburdened by unnecessary things. I let go with one small plea to the receiver to please, take care of that thing that you just received, because at one point it meant the world to me. And I guess that was all I needed to allow myself to finally let go.
Taken with my Olympus e510
Pale amber sunlight falls across
The reddening October trees,
That hardly sway before a breeze
As soft as summer: summer's loss
Seems little, dear! on days like these.
--Ernest Dowson,
Autumnal
October is here, the second of the -ber months, Bar exam month (Godspeed SULAW 2014!) and a few more days closer to Christmas! The first few days brought with them a lot of rain but I hope this makes way to the cool breeze that makes Christmas in my corner of the world so wonderful.
Christmas and holidays in general make me want to have my own house that I can decorate and make great memories with my family in. I guess feelings like these intensify when a person get's married so here I am, spending entire mornings browsing over different Instagram feeds of homes and interior design and living room arrangements. If you are into interior decorating or you simply love to oogle nice things on IG, here are a few of the home and style accounts I follow on the site.

It's crazy, how things and our minds change so fast when it comes to what we want or what we think we want. I wasn't even seriously thinking about any of these a year ago! Time indeed flies so fast so we better enjoy every second of it, whether it's pouring or not.
And oh, hello October!!!

Little girls dreams are of magical things."
- Sherry Larson
This cute and flowery butterfly themed affair was everything a little girl could ever want for her birthday. With colorful butterflies on perfectly-trimmed hedges, a full garden with an adorable pink bike as the main setting, two (TWO!) dessert buffet tables, three exquisitely-decorated cakes to fit the butterfly garden theme (I LOVE the pastel pink ombre creation with the roses on top!), and adorable little cupcakes with butterfly toppers, any kid and even adults would go gaga. And to think that all this is the work of Alex's mom who is quite handy with events herself. Sheila is the owner of Lickety Split and she does events for a living, which is not surprisingly given the amount of detail and effort she put to make this birthday one of the best for her little girl.
Check out more of this adorable birthday below.

A friend gave me dried mulberry leaves that I could steep and drink last Monday (thank you, Carlis!!!), and I finally got to make my own pot this morning! Prior to this I didn't know anything about the tree, except that it produces berries that look a lot like cute, miniature grapes. Mulberries are amazingly full of nutrients. In fact, the Japanese have been brewing mulberry tea for years as a health drink. Some studies have also shown that the tea can lower your blood sugar levels, making it a potentially healthy drink for someone with diabetes (more info on that study
here.)
The tea was very good, not unlike the green tea that I usually have in the mornings. Will definitely be including this drink in my collection from now on. Now I only have to find myself a mulberry cutting so I can start growing my own tree!
