I start my day with a small game of fetch with Pip who is always by the door when I open it. He wakes up early and tries to wake others up either by jumping into bed with them or whining from the floor with those sad puppy eyes of his. A game of fetch usually makes his morning, and after that it's playtime with Kuya Bammy. Kuya Choi, with his arthritic legs, usually just looks on and tries his best to look uninterested. This particular morning the three were all inside and I just could not resist snapping a few shots.
I got an early Christmas gift from Kat, a photographer/graphic designer friend of mine currently based in SG: a new domain name! Couldn't quite believe my ears when she told me that she got me this as an early Christmas gift. With her help, I jumped from a Blogspot subdomain user to having a domain name of my own. I have always wanted to get a domain name of my own, but domains and htmls and the mention of codes and lines of code freak me out and give me a serious case of the hives, so I stayed away. Perhaps this is the Universe's way of telling me that it is finally time to get a domain of my own, and Kat was the person to prod me into taking that important step.
Soooooooooo, welcome to www.joselleamahit.com!!! (still can't believe that I now have a .com after my name. If there's such a thing as a hundred degrees higher than super stoked, that's where I am right now, LOL!)
The holidays is gearing up to be a great one for me, I can feel it! Thanks Kat for such an amazing, wonderful and super thoughtful gift!
Last Friday my friends and I went to my hometown just a few hours away from the city to hand out school supplies to the kids in a small school up in the mountains of Bindoy. It is not far from the town but the way leading up there is a mix of concrete and loose, rocky road. With the help of my brother and an aunt we were able to reach our destination and even managed to sneak in a bit of play time in the rest house kept by an uncle just a few meters from the school. Our arrival was a surprise and the look on the kids' faces as we were walking with our boxes, enough to melt your heart. We handed out everything in 30 minutes, just in time for the kids to start their afternoon classes. Although Grades 3 and 4 already went home since it was homeroom day for them, their parents were there, so we were able to give those students their gifts as well. The kids were so warm and friendly and they immediately lined up when their teachers told them to behave so we can start handing gifts out. The gifts were nothing grand---school supplies like notebooks and pencils, crayons and coloring books for the older kids and colorful toys for the kinder kids. But they were happy so that made us happy.
Gift-giving is an annual thing with my high school friends and although I have not been present when we gave school supplies to other schools in the past years, I was glad that I was a part of this one. I got to go home, I got to see my Lolo after so many months of being away, set foot in the hard rocky soil of Camudlas and breathed fresh mountain air. I missed doing these things but I didn't know how much until we were there. I'm hoping that we'll be able to keep this tradition for the next several years and that we'll be able to give more to more kids.
“It's a funny thing, how much time we spend planning our lives.
We so convince ourselves of what we want to do,
that sometimes we don't see what we're meant to do.”

I met Gino and Eva on the day of the shoot and immediately thought, "These two are going to make cute babies together!" I got the feeling that they didn't exactly see this relationship coming, but am pretty sure it's one for the books. Don't you just love how some love stories are like that? Couples go for YEARS, and I mean YEARS before tying the knot, and then you have those who meet and fall in love and that's it, wedding bells and everything that goes with it.
Love can be unpredictable like that.
Love can be, yes indeed, sir, very much like a girl with PMS. Not a very romantic analogy (haha!) but there it is. I loved shooting this couple, they make such a pretty pair. And the venue! I wished we had more light that day, no rain showers, more sun, more time! The venue was gorgeous, with a winding asphalt road that curves through the entire area, a field of pink and white bougainvilleas, a charming little chapel and the most beautiful view of the sea. There was no better place to take their photos.
