Dogs are our link to paradise.
They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent.
To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon
is to be back in Eden,
where doing nothing was not boring
—it was peace.
—Milan Kundera
So this guy spent a few days with me. He soiled the carpet, the small sofa, and made a mess of the small patch of lawn that this house is lucky enough to call its own, but it was all good. When he grins he lights up the whole room.

Ok, so I think there's a preeeetty good chance I'll end up as one of those women who'll grow old and dote on their dogs or cats until they die. I spent the afternoon capturing shots of Pepito , my sister's pup as he slept and played with his toys. Pepito is sort of the resident baby in the house, fur and all, and he's got a pile of toys that he knows are his and no one else's, which makes him a pretty selfish little pup (but aren't they all???).

newly-washed toys! Pip is H-A-P-P-Y! |

his toys are strewn all over the floor and scattered is how he likes them |
I was content to let him sleep, since he can be a terror when he is awake, but he woke up a few minutes after I took pictures. Now he's whimpering beside me because he is tethered to the door while everyone else is doing something...just like any other puppy, Pepito always likes to be in the thick of things.
Pepito is my sister's puppy, a Maltese-Shih Tzu mix. He is a bundle of energy, love, drool, and tiny doggie teeth and there's nothing I like to do than bury my face in his warm fuzzy tummy. His first few days with us were marked by frantic visits to the vet (the first at 2 in the morning) since he had digestive problems and we thought it was Parvo. Now, he's all over the house, biting ankles and darting from one corner to another like a black, furry floor mop. And for some reason, he likes to do his business in my brother's room. Go figure.
