Slow months leave me out of whack for some reason. I've been a freelancer for 5 years now and I've noticed that projects dip and rise at certain months of the year. January is especially slow and although slow months give me more time to focus on other things like studying and getting other things done, there's still a part of me that itches to write just the right number of pages to make me feel like I've completed my day. It's harder to do that in slow months, which is the reason why I often do not feel like doing anything else. I'm not the only one who feels the pain of slow months, apparently. I was searching for reasons for this when I stumbled on
this post and it somehow brought a small amount of comfort knowing that other freelance writers around the world have felt the same thing (it wasn't me after all, LOL!). The great thing about Jen's post is that she listed things you can do during slow months like:
--finish projects
--start new ones
--STUDY! (added this myself, since midterms are coming and I remember ZERO from my lectures)
--finally do things that you've been putting off during the busier months, and
--just enjoy the downtime
I realized that I've been missing the blessing that comes with slow months and needed to stop stressing over the things I couldn't do and instead focus my attention on the things that I could get done. Pretty standard realization but there you go.
I also used today's downtime to finally take photos of the tea set my aunt lovingly sent from the States. She and I are avid green tea drinkers and she is one of the two people in the world who gives me my supply of green tea.
Thank you Tita Del for such a thoughtful Christmas gift!
“It's a funny thing, how much time we spend planning our lives.
We so convince ourselves of what we want to do,
that sometimes we don't see what we're meant to do.”

I met Gino and Eva on the day of the shoot and immediately thought, "These two are going to make cute babies together!" I got the feeling that they didn't exactly see this relationship coming, but am pretty sure it's one for the books. Don't you just love how some love stories are like that? Couples go for YEARS, and I mean YEARS before tying the knot, and then you have those who meet and fall in love and that's it, wedding bells and everything that goes with it.
Love can be unpredictable like that.
Love can be, yes indeed, sir, very much like a girl with PMS. Not a very romantic analogy (haha!) but there it is. I loved shooting this couple, they make such a pretty pair. And the venue! I wished we had more light that day, no rain showers, more sun, more time! The venue was gorgeous, with a winding asphalt road that curves through the entire area, a field of pink and white bougainvilleas, a charming little chapel and the most beautiful view of the sea. There was no better place to take their photos.

I rarely post anything about what goes on behind my blogging but recently I felt confident enough to do a little tweaking with the HTMLs and the foreign-sounding codes that you can find in any Blogger blog and I thought I can do some changes there without hurting my layout. To cut the long story short, I messed stuff up, LOL! My comments were not appearing and this morning my Facebook LIKE button, which is such an easy way for readers to let me know that they visited, didn't show up. I'm glad online tutorials are always around to help me solve my problems. The links below helped me get my LIKE button back up and running in a matter of minutes and helped me solved my missing comments problem.
Don't you just LOOOVEEEE the Internet? I do! Morning everyone!
Oscar is the older brother of a friend and classmate when I was in nursing school, and when she asked me if we were willing to do a prenup shot, Kat and I jumped at the chance. We did the shoot in early 2011. They were pretty excited about getting hitched, so it was a joy for us to shoot their last days before the big day. Oscar was a bit shy at first, but prodded by Karen, who looked so pretty in her white dress, he began to warm up and began enjoying the shoot. It poured halfway into the shoot, and I had to make a quick detour for home before the second location to change. Despite the rain, and a sudden scare when I realized by battery ran out, we got the shots we needed.
